At my church we are currently in a series on the book of Daniel. Today Pastor Jay Harvey preached on Daniel 4 and one thing in particular struck home with me. Three times in this chapter (v.17, 25, & 32) we hear the prophet Daniel repeat the same phrase:
"...the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will."
Anytime you see something repeated this way in Scripture you need to take heed and pay close attention. God is trying to teach us something very important.
We see here that God is on His throne and we can affirm with Job "I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted." (Job 42:2)
So beloved, go through this election season and beyond with a calm assurance that your heavenly Father is in control and holds you in the palm of His hand no matter how the heathen rage! (see Psalm 2)
